I share the concerns of those groups that organised a protest on Sunday over the demolition of the Tsim Sha Tsui bus terminus. They question the value of the proposed piazza. The waterfront promenade and the Avenue of Stars already provide adequate space and viewing platforms for tourists.

However, I have read in the Chinese press that one architect has proposed not only a new piazza, but also a new pedestrian cross-harbour tunnel linking the terminus with Central.

I think this additional proposal really adds value to the piazza concept, allowing tourists and locals to enjoy a leisurely walk from Kowloon all the way to Central via a unique underwater pathway.

It would be a tourist attraction to be able to walk under one of the most famous harbours in the world. I think this pedestrian tunnel is worth considering.
